The neighbor communities of the Cochasquí Archeological Park (PAC in Spanish acronym) have participated, for a second occasion, in a cultural revitalization process promoted by this project and executed in collaboration with the Cultural Direction of the Autonomous and Decentralized Government of Pichincha.
This project envisages strengthening social actors through the support of cultural and artistic entrepreneurship projects and facilitating better communication channels between these actors and the corresponding local governments in the framework of the Archeological Park Cochasquí scheme.
It constitutes the continuation of a process starting in 2014 and in this second phase considers components such as: participation, culture, tourism, dialogue and consensus, and collective action. The intervention zone for this project integrates the populations of Malchinguí, Toachi, and Cochasquí. One of the core objectives has been the support of entrepreneurial projects embracing the cultural assets of the intervention zone in order for them to become important drivers for the sector’s economic dynamic. Hence, the entrepreneurial projects in this phase focus on the recuperation of the gastronomic patrimony of the communities of Malchinguí, Toachi, and Cochasquí (one hour away from Quito).
The elaboration of the Cochasquí Park’s Cultural Agenda for a six-month period has been one of the main achievements, providing entertainment activities for adults and children. This is a product of a collaborative effort of different cultural actors (groups and individuals) committed to the diffusion and revitalization of their cultural expressions.
